Focused Construction Safety Program
IEI General Contractors, Inc. has a strong emphasis on construction safety. Safety and health is one of our primary concerns. Our company has a strong commitment to its employees to provide a safe workplace and to establish programs promoting high standards of employee health. Our safety efforts include the services of Louie Jungbluth, Wisconsin Safety Services, Inc. and the Safety Directors with the Wisconsin Chapter Associated General Contractors.
In both 2009 and 2010, we received the Associated General Contractors Safety Excellence Award for our outstanding safety records in 2008 and 2009.
In 2004 we received the AGC "Safety Performance Award" for Contractors having 100,000 to 250,000 man-hours.
The following are key features of IEI’s safety program:
- All foreman/Superintendents have OSHA 30, first aid, CPR, scaffold competency and Excavation Safety certifications.
- Field employees participate in on the job Weekly Safety Toolbox Talks.
- Foreman safety meetings held quarterly.
- Outside safety professionals are utilized for independent job site inspection, training, consultation and reporting.
- Our Insurance carrier conducts safety inspections and consultation with written follow-up.
- All new employees are required to read our Safety & Health Guidelines book and sign and acknowledgement.
In addition, 12 of our carpenters have completed a medical protocal training program relating to the construction of hospitals and other medical facilities. Provided by the Wisconsin Carpenters, the training focused on risk control, infection and contamination issues, and regulatory concerns.
